Route 112 off Route 2 (Mohawk Trail)

Found on www.motorcycleridesinamerica.com (Copyright 2003 Motorcycle Rides in America).

Route 112 off Route 2 (Mohawk Trail)

This is what Tom Bruno from Greenfield, MA has to say about this route:

Living in the Western side of the state I have ridden route 2 the Mohawk trail often. There are a number of interesting routes to talk off the main road. From Greenfield, go west on rt.2 into Charlemont, turn Right on to rt.112.

Route 112 to the town of Colrain where you can drink great coffee at Shelburn coffee roasters, just before the right onto rt.112. This route will bring you Into Vermont. About 3 or 4 miles over the line you will notice no parking signs on both sides of the road. Find a place to park your bike, go over the guardrail and down the hill, and you will find the cold river and some nice swimming holes. Continuing on 112 to Jacksonville (check out the winery) where you pick up Vt.100 north to Wilmington. At the junction of rt.100 and rt.9 you can go into Wilmington which is a small ski town, where you can find food and gas.

From Wilmington go to rt.9 east to Brattleboro where you can hot foot it back to Greenfield on interstate 91 or a more leisure rt.5.

This information was provided by Tom Bruno from Greenfield MA.
