Kaw mechanic?

My next door neighbor has a Ninja 250. It won't start :(

My rudimentary troubleshooting skills indicate it's not getting spark.

He wants to take it to someone who can nail down the issue. I told him about Brandon at AFJ and Enzo at Cadre. Anyone else around?

Thanks,

-Bob

Did you give it a little shot of starting fluid to rule out fuel issue? Change plugs etc do the small things first?

I looked it over and put plugs in it. fired right up. then quit running and quit firing. played with wires and looked over for a short, tested voltage to coils, checked kickstand and clutch switches, checked kawi's 20 grounds. nothing. then it started again. put tank back on and it quit sparking.

anybody got a clue? both cylinders quite firing...coils? ignition module?

How long did it run before quitting? 2 mins. 10 mins? Shorter? Longer?

If you take the tank off again, will it spark?

Re: Kaw mechanic?

not sure if it ever quit because it stopped firing. I stopped it intentionally to restart or it ran out of gas in bowl while I had tank off.

nay on tank....or maybe who fucking knows. cant find any shorting clues.

Kill switch or ignition

Re: Kaw mechanic?

look at kill, seemed ok. ignition switch very wonkey. have to have ket just right for it to come on. One of big suggestions was to get it replaced.

Parked outside???

Wash out the ignition switch, kill switch and headlight switch with lots of WD-40 while flipping switches on and off :jamout
